Designer Neckwarmer
By Meg Manning

Size: 8-10” wide x 28-32” long

Materials:
Approximately 140 yards of a textured bulky weight yarn**. Look for a ball band gauge of 3 sts to the inch.

** We suggest using Tartelette and Camelino, holding 1 strand of each together, on a size 13 needles. We're showing it in the swatch below right.

Needles: 1-2 sizes larger than called for on the ball band.  I used #13This scarf can be made in any yarn at any gauge by adapting the number of stitches to be cast on.

Cast on 15 sts and work in stockinette stitch for 8”.  Put this piece on a holder and knit another one the same size.  Put the first piece back on your needle and continue working across all 30 sts in stockinette stitch until piece measures 24” from beginning.  Put 15 sts on hold;  continue on remaining 15 sts until you’ve worked a further 8”.  Bind off.  Put the remaining 15 sts back on the needle and work for 8”.  Bind off.  Don’t try to flatten the scarf, it’s designed to roll in and provide extra warmth for your neck.

Tie both flaps of the first end together in an overhand knot, as shown.  Repeat with the second end.  This leaves a buttonhole opening on each end, through which you can slip the “button” knot.

You can adapt this pattern for using any yarn in any gauge.
