Editor's note: While we realize the site is called WhoKnits, many of us fiber addicts are far from craft-monogamous. Many crochet, many would like to. This is a great pattern for all, whether seasoned crochet-pro or hooker wannabe.
Materials: One 100 gr. ball Knit One Crochet Too Ty-Dy, size F crochet Hook
(sample was worked in color #541)
This bag is worked in the round to the flap, than back and forth.
To make bag: Starting from the bottom, ch 61.
Rnd 1: Skipping first ch, sc in each ch around (60 sts) do not turn, join with a sl st to first sc, sc in the same space and in each sc around. Continue around , working sc into each sc until piece measures 7” from beginning.
Working flap: Row 1: Ch 1, sc in next 26 sc; turn.
Rep Row 1 until
flap measures 3 1/2”. Next row,ch 1, sc in first 13 sc, ch 14 (for buttonloop), sc in last 13 sc. Cut yarn and fasten off.
To close bottom: Inserting hook through both layers, sc across bottom edge to close.
To make strap: Join yarn with sl st in st next to left of flap, ch 3 (counts as first dc), work dc in each of next 3 sts—4 dc total.
Next Row: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in next 3 dc; turn.
Repeat this row until strap measures approximately 42” or desired length.
Join to 4 sts on other side of flap.
Weave in ends. Sew on button opposite loop.
Let bag lay flat under some telephone books to flatten.
